But, What if We Flip the Script?

Well, it’s September and I can hardly believe that we are moving into FALL! This is where the days get shorter and there is a nip in the air. I call this “lipstick and turtleneck” weather :)

Looking back, how was your summer? Unlike last summer (and the summer before that!), was your summer as you planned? I know so many of us tried to make up for lost time by traveling and seeing friends and family that we might not have seen since 2019! Maybe your summer didn’t go as planned. Perhaps you had family or work obligations that kept you from having the summer you thought you would have. It can leave you feeling disappointed, frustrated, and sad.

But, what if we flip the script?

What positives did you have this summer? Were you able to see a movie, concert or a play, or have an experience that has been on hold the last two summers? Did you have any wins at work? Were you able to finally wear that lipstick that you have been dying to show off without a mask? These are examples of amazing and positive consequences that can help create gratitude.

We all have our moments when we feel overwhelmed with what is happening around us.  Practicing gratitude during the most challenging times can help us manage our stress and improve our overall health.

Even if you ended up having a bummer summer, what are you grateful for over the last 3 months? If you journal like I do, consider spending 10 minutes writing down everything that was good this summer. It could be something like finding a new ice cream flavor that you love! Anything that brought you joy and gratitude!
